The Statistician-General of the Federation, Yemi Kale, has given assurance that a hybrid digitalized form of data collection for the Covid-19 impact establishment survey would soon be launched in Nigeria.
Kale disclosed this during the 2021 first Bi-annual meeting of the National Consultative Committee on Statistics, holding in Jos, Plateau State, with Statisticians General of the 36 states in attendance.
It’s a gathering of Statisticians General from across the 36 states of Nigeria including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. They gathered to strategize towards developing a statistical system that would stand the test of time.
In his keynote address, the Statistician-General of the Federation said that improving on the quality, comparability, and timeliness of statistics, the output is key especially under the Covid-19.
Declaring the conference open, Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, represented by the Commissioner, Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, Sylvester Wallanko, noted that planning and policy formulation can only be effective when statistics is promoted.
This year’s meeting with the theme Statistical Production under the Covid-19 Pandemic and Economic in Nigeria is expected to come up with feasible ways and means of improving the delivery of good statistical information in the country.
