Niger police arrest suspected internet fraudsters

The Police in Niger State has arrested a suspected fourteen-man internet fraudster in Minna. The suspects were said to have realized over twelve million Naira from their victims through a fake investment platform.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Wasiu Abiodun, said, part of the proceeds were used to pay house rent and a boutique, valued at about four million Naira, which were being managed by Aigbona Gift, as well as a Lexus of about four million Naira.

The statement noted that items recovered from the suspects include, three iPhones, a laptop, six android phones, eleven laptop chargers, as well as a Shisha box.

During interrogation, twenty-four-year-old Omokhafe Nelson, and twenty-seven-year-old Amos Sherrif, confessed to engaging in internet fraud since 2019. They also said that before their arrest, they engaged in training nine others for the same exercise.

The statement further said that the suspects will be charged to court soon.
