Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, says it is unfair for Rivers State to have been left out in states benefitting from World Bank loan.

Rivers State government had raised an alarm that his state was left out in World Bank loan. The alarm which forced Nigeria’s House of Representatives to call for inclusion of Rivers among benefitting states.

Wike’s alarm has also attracted the attention of the executive arm of government through the Minister of Labour and Employment, who has asked the Federal Character Commission to quickly look into the matter.

On the protracted strike by resident doctors, Ngige said the Federal Government owes no worker basic salary.

He revealed that a waiver has been granted to absorb resident doctors employed by Chief Medical Directors who have not been properly regularised.

On whether the Federal Character Commission has a mandate on checking until schools and tertiary institutions admission quota, the Commission said they are accessing the situation and have not found any irregularities brought before it.
