Zambia postal services workers call off strike

After five months without pay, Zambia Postal Services Corporation Unionized workers have called off their strike after assurances by Management that they will soon start receiving their salaries.

National Union for Communication Workers Lusaka Branch Chairperson Martin Ngulube confirmed to the media that the protest was called off Monday morning after a consensus was reached between the Union and Management that workers go back to work and salaries will be paid soon.

Mr. Ngulube said “I can confirm that Management assured me that workers will be paid their salaries soon, they did not indicate whether it will be for the five months but I can confirm that by Wednesday we will know when the workers will start receiving their salaries”,.

Mr. Ngulube said the Zampost workers will be working even on New Years Day to help recover the money that was lost during the time they were protesting.

The Zampost workers were on strike for two weeks.
