Although Algerians have succeeded in making Bouteflika step down, the protests in the North African nation seems far from over.
Protests continue as Algerians are demanding the departure of the ruling elite class, as the nation gears towards their presidential elections in July.
For the eight consecutive Friday in Algeria, protesters rallied in Algiers on April 12 to demand the departure of the ruling elite who have governed Algeria since 1962.
The ruling elite have been in power since the country gained independence from France in 1962.
The protests are seen to remove what they term ‘corrupt officials’ from power.
“No to Bensalah,” the protesters were seen chanting during their peaceful protests in most cities in Algeria.
It is recalled that the mass protests broke out in the nation on Feb 22.
