Spotify comes out of the Closet, Drags Apple to the E.U

Despite a lot of developers complaint in the background about Apple’s policies, Spotify has against all odds come out to protest against the unfair advantage the technology giant has over developers building on the iOs platform.

For this reason, The streaming giant has filed a complaint eith the European Union stating Apple’s rules stifle innovation at the expense of the end user’s experience. A public site has also been created to that effect themed ‘Time to Play Fair’ after trying unsuccessfully to resolve the issues directly with Apple

Although the playstore has a similar pay model, the platform doesn’t mandate developers on the platform to use the plan as there are alternative options to receive payments in-app or otherwise.

Apple’s mandatory policy of expecting developers who use the platform to part with 30% of generated revenue via the App Store has been stifling for developers according to Spotify and such a move Horatio Gutierrez, Spotify’s legal counsel claims has restricted the level of success the platform has made over the years.
