Wikileaks founder, Julian Assange has been arrested at the Border of Ecuador where he was granted refuge during a bail over sexual assault charges filed against him in Sweden.
He spent close to seven years there to prevent extradition to Sweden but was detained by the Ecuadorian Government who withdrew his asylum.
According to Scotland Yard, Assange refused to surrender to the court for a warrant issued on 29 June 2012.
The President of Ecuador released the following statement via Twitter:
“In a sovereign decision, Ecuador withdrew the asylum status to Julian Assange after his repeated violations to international conventions and daily-life protocols.”
Assange refused to leave the Embassy claiming if he did, he would be extradited to the US to face charges bordering around Wikileaks publication of thousands of US Diplomatic Cables
