Former Governor, Abba Kyari confirmed Dead

The former military Governor of Kaduna State, Brigadier Abba Kyari, died last Sunday after a brief illness at the age of 80.

His death was confirmed by his eldest son, Senator Abubakar Kyari. He was buried on Monday in Maiduguri at 4 pm.

Brief History of Abba Kyari

Abba Kyari was born in 1938 in Borno state. His schooling was at Borno middle school and then moved to Barewa college in Zaria.

He got enlisted in the Military as a Cadet officer in 1959 and then rose to become the governor of the North-Central state in July 1967, a time when Yakubu Gowon became the Military Head of State.

After he left the governorship position, he served as a member of the boards for organizations including First Bank of Nigeria, Merchant Bank of Commerce, and Standard Alliance Insurance.

He also got to the helm of affairs at Gamah Flour Mills and Alif Engineering and Construction after which he finally retired to a peaceful, quiet life.
