UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin said racism was still a major concern in the sport after recent incidents involving teams in England and Italy have refreshed efforts to stamp out prejudice in the game.
At comments made at a news conference on Thursday (February 7) shortly after being re-elected to his position, Ceferin placed some of the blame on rhetoric from some politicians on the continent.
A number of incidents have surfaced in England over the past month while Napoli’s Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly suffered racial abuse from Inter Milan fans in December.
