The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has suspended its legislative activities for the next two weeks in order to curtail the spread of Coronavirus in the country.

Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, the Speaker of the House disclosed this on Wednesday after Hon Tanko Tunga, the Majority Leader of the House brought the issue under the matter of public importance during the House Proceedings in Lafia.

Balarabe Abdullahi said that the House would continue partnering the Executive arm in order to tackle the spread of the virus in the state and the country at large.

According to him, the House will recall when necessary as “we are going to continue monitoring situations regarding Coronavirus.

‘ I want to thank the Majority leader and other members for your positive contributions on this matter.

” We are committed to the welfare of our people, we are committed to the health of our people as a healthy nation is a wealthy nation”

Balarabe Abdullahi directed the management staff particularly directors to come to work.

” Security agents should also remain in their duties post to take control of the House, ” the Speaker added.

Earlier, Hon Tanko Tunga while raising the matter Advised the people to heed to the advice of experts on the preventive measures of Coronavirus.

” This is a great concern as it affect the whole world, ” he said.

Other members who contributed Hon Mohammed Okpoku, Hon Abdulaziz S Danladi, Hon Mohammed Omadefu and Chairman House Committee on Health Hon Usman L Shafa all decried the dreaded disease calling on people to take precautionary measures.
