Muslims in Kogi State joined their counterparts in other parts of the world to celebrate the birth of Prophet Mohammed at a rally held at Itobe and the Ajaokuta communities of the state.

Some Muslim faithful who spoke with reporters said Nigeria will enjoy peace and development if the character of the Prophet Mohammed is emulated by Muslims.

Eid-El-Maulud is the celebration of the birth of the great Islamic prophet Muhammad, Peace of Allah be upon him, commemorated on the 12th Rabiul Awwal, 1443 after Hijra according to the Islamic calendar.

Reporters hooked up with some celebrating Muslim faithful in Itobe and Ajokuta Communities where they peacefully took to the Anyigba- Enugu expressway, chanting the praise of Allah to mark the birth of the Prophet.

The Onu Itobe, Salihu Adaji, is an Islamic educator who wants Muslims to reflect on the qualities of Prophet Mohammed.

The Onu Itobe said that terrorism and banditry are un-Islamic, hence Muslims must do everything to change the notion by living responsibly like Prophet Mohammed.

The need for families to inculcate the right Islamic values as seen on the Prophet in their children, right from an early age, was also advocated.

The day was marked with a special prayer session, recitation of the Holy Quran, Islamic litanies, peaceful rallies, and praise to Allah, with a call on Muslims to do charitable works like the Prophet on this day.
