It was a beauty pageant like no other at Mrs Sri Lanka pageant as the 2020 Miss World, Caroline Jurie decrowned Pushpika De Silva and crowned the first runner up in her stead.
Jurie had publicly embarrassed De Silva on grounds that she couldn’t win the pageantry for married women as a divorcee and went on to remove her crown right on stage, watch below.
She has now been arrested after De Silva filed a complaint that she suffered injuries to the head which she was hospitalized for while the crown was being removed although it was, from the video, done tactfully.
It was later confirmed that De Silva was not a divorcee but separated and the crown was later bequeathed to her in a press conference. At the event, De Silva dedicated her win to women who suffer to raise their kids alone.
De Silva also disclosed her plans to take legal action for the unreasonable way she was humiliated in public.
The Mrs World organization represented by Chandimal Jayasinghe express disappointment over Jurie’s composure on stage and plans to investigate the matter.
Jurie has now resigned the Miss World title saying her actions were only because she wanted a fair stage in a video on Instagram
