Michaela Coel, UK-based Ghanaian Actress becomes the first African to win an Emmy award in the category of the best writing for a limited series – I May Destroy You.
The series which she also co-directed and starred in as Arabella depicted the story of a lady in her mid-twenties who was raped and is picking back the pieces of her life. The series which premiered in June 2020 has been described by the NY Times as the perfect show for an anxious world.
It also won BAFTAs for the Best Mini-Series, Best Director: Drama, and many other notable awards alongside 9 nominations. Prior to her epic blowout, Michaela initially shot into the limelight with her debut – Chronicles of a Fed-Up Millenial.
