Lai Mohammed: Kanu will be tried for threatening Nigeria's Unity

In a Press conference held in Abuja, Lai Mohammed, the current Minister of Information and Culture disclosed that Nnamdi Kanu, the Leader of IPOB that has been arrested in Abuja will be tried for threatening the unity of Nigeria.

He said it will be of interest to every Nigerian to know that the security and intelligence security have been tracking the IPOB leader who lives a luxurious life in foreign countries, chartering private jets, constant travels, and always wearing expensive clothing. It remains unclear what this reference to his lifestyle has to do with the charges against him

He said the evidence is seen in the expensive Fendi clothing he was putting on when he was arrested. He said that after the forensic investigations that have been carried out, there are tons of information concerning the IPOB leader and his cohorts.

He also assured the people that as the investigation is ongoing, all those who collaborated with the IPOB leader will be brought to justice no matter how powerful they are in society. He said they will face the full punishment of the law for having threatened the unity of the nation and its sovereignty.

According to Lai Mohammed, the leader of the IPOB is facing an 11 court charge of possessing firearm illegally, terrorism, treasonable felony, and other charges.

He said the IPOB leader jumped his bail in the year 2017 and fled the country before being arrested by the Nigerian security and intelligence agencies coupled with the sister international agencies.

The Minister of Information and Culture applauded the security agencies for being professionals. However, he refused to let people know how the arrest was carried out
He said all he could divulge is that the arrest was made possible by the Nigerian security agencies and countries to whom they had obligations and such obligation would continue to be honored.

Mr Mohammed also stated that the IPOB leader will be granted a free and fair trial
He also said that he finds it interesting that people are saying Kanu should be granted a free trial as though he was not granted one before he fled the country.

He also said that Kanu denied his victims a fair deal after they died following his broadcasts and tweets which sprang violence but he won’t let Kanu be denied a fair deal.
