The Organised Labour in Cross River State has kicked against the forceful opening of government offices by the state government with the use of security operatives.

The Chairman of Action Committee of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, Comrade Joe Idiege, who frowned at the government action, said no amount of intimidation and harassment will make them change their mind until their demands are met.

He said what the workers are asking for is in line with the labour law, insisting that the strike will continue to be in total compliance by all the union members.

On their part, Special Adviser to the Cross River State Governor, Effiong Ita Umoh, and the State Head of Service, Geraldine Ekanem, said their action was to ensure that other non-union members working in the Secretariat had access to their offices.

Workers in Cross River State have embarked on an indefinite strike following what they described as the inability of the state government to pay their 30,000 national minimum wage salary, promotion inadequacies, among others up to date but the government said it has fulfilled all the agreements reached with them in September 2020.
