The Kaduna State government says about 323 persons have been killed, while 949 persons have also been kidnapped in Kaduna, in the first quarter of 2021.

The Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, revealed out these statistics at the State Security Council Meeting during the presentation of the First Quarter Security Report.

He said that hundreds of bandits were also neutralised, within the period. Kaduna State has been in the spotlight, for the wrong reasons.

The residents have continued to live in fear, over the growing insecurity in the state.

In recent weeks, there have been reported cases of abduction of students and serial killings, in some parts of the state.

It is based on this that the Kaduna State Security Council, comprising of security agencies and traditional leaders, is engaging to find a solution to the mayhem.

Aruwan noted that all the deaths in the period under review were linked to banditry, communal clashes, and reprisal attacks.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai said schools have now become a target for the bandit. The Governor said security operatives in the country need a lot of logistic support, for them to discharge their constitutional responsibility, effectively.

This is not the first time that the state’s Security Council is meeting to address the daunting security situation in the state.

It is hoped that at end of the deliberation, the council will be able to find a solution, to the worrisome insecurity in Kaduna.
