Jacob Zuma allowed to serve Sentence on Medical Parole

Former South African President, Jacob Zuma has been placed on medical parole in accordance with the provision of the South African Law that allows inmates suffering from illnesses that limit their daily activities.

Zuma was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment for contempt of court before the Zondo Commission, however, his health condition worsened during his incarceration leading to the parole terms.

The former president’s illness, which remains shrouded in mystery, was sent to the NPA. The Department of Correctional Services released a statement stating the former president was terminally ill and physically incapacitated.

The Septuagenarian has been on trial over charges bordering on fraud, bribery, and graft worth $5 billion during Thabo Mbeki’s administration, all of which he has pleaded not guilty to.
