Boeing pledges $100m to families of 737 MAX crash victims

A Sriwijaya Air Flight SJ182 from Indonesia has disappeared from the Radar after its take off from the Jakarta Airport.

The Boeing 737-500 reportedly lost contact on its way to Pontianak on Borneo Island as disclosed by the Transport Ministry Spokesperson, Adita Irawati.

She also disclosed that the sudden disappearance of the plane, with 56 passengers on board and 6 crew members, is currently being investigated by the National Search and Rescue

Agency as well as the National Transport Safety Committee.
This development comes at a very sensitive period for Boeing who just committed to paying the sum of $2.5 billion to settle charges with the US Dept. of Justice for misleading it on the safety of the 737 Max.

The 737 Max due to a software error led to the death of everyone on board on two planes that crashed fatally in 2019 with over 300 people on board.
