The Federal Government is driving a creative value chain entrepreneurship in select ministries, departments, and exercise to tackle increasing unemployment in the country.

Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, who made the call in Abuja at the fifth meeting of the National Council on Employment, said a lot of jobs could be generated across the value chain from the raw material stage through to the finished product and to the consumer.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Yerima Tarfa, Ngige said that Ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mines and Steel Development, Tourism Development Corporation, and Nigeria Institute for Social and Economic Research are key areas of focus.

Representatives of organised labour in Nigeria and employers associations seek clearer focus on the job creation drive of the Federal Government and urged states to key into the innovation to reduce joblessness.

The National Council on Employment is made up of government ministries, organised private sector, employers’ association and organised Labour.
