The death of five persons has been confirmed in the latest cholera outbreak in Jos North Local government area of Plateau State, with 126 suspected fresh cases reported.
Commissioner of Health, Dr Kuden Kamshak Deyin, at a press briefing in Jos also confirmed two cases of Monkey Pox in Shendam Local government area of the state.
Dr Deyin was quick to urge residents in the locality to immediately seek medical help if they observe such symptoms as leg cramps, vomiting and diarrhoea.
He also urged them to avoid raw fish, uncooked vegetables as well as ensure that meals are properly cooked.
He assured that efforts were at top gear to curtail a further spread of the disease by the state government, even as citizens are advised to take necessary preventive action.
The state had not recorded any new case of Cholera until May 23, 2018.
