The Taraba State Government has flagged off a free eye care treatment in partnership with international medical experts as part of efforts to provide quality and affordable eye care services to citizens of the state. 

The project was flagged off at the specialist hospital in Jalingo on Tuesday. 

The free eye care treatment by Taraba State Government, in partnership with Israeli ophthalmologists, will offer medical care including surgeries to persons with eye problems. 

Before the launch program was concluded, Taraba State Specialist Hospital, the venue for the free eye care treatment had hundreds of people on queues waiting for their turns to benefit from the exercise. 

The State Governor, Darius Ishaku, said professional eye care is a critical health condition begging for immediate attention in Taraba State, and that necessitated the collaboration with foreign experts on free optical care. 

The State Commissioner for Health, Innocent Vakkai, said the decision to provide free eye care treatment, is strategic to the needs of the people. 

The free eye care exercise will last one week, and beneficiaries are drawn from all local government areas of the state.
