Three people have been slain after gunmen invaded Anara market in Imo state’s Isiala Mbano local government area.
According to reports, many more people were injured in the attack, which occurred around 10 p.m. on Tuesday.
Gunmen entered the market in a white Sienna minivan, according to witnesses in the area, and opened fire on the people.
“The gunmen were driving a white Sienna.” As soon as they arrived at the market, they opened fire, killing three people and wounding several others. “The three victims died instantly,” a witness stated.
“Nobody knows why they assaulted the market,” another witness claimed. “They arrived and started firing at the people sporadically, people scampered for protection, and some people collapsed on top of each other.”
Over the last few months, the South-East has been beset by insecurity as gunmen with unknown identities have clashed with security forces, resulting in multiple deaths.
Many lives have been lost as a result of these attacks, and the perpetrators have also destroyed properties belonging to the government and private individuals.
According to sources, the Biafrans, one of the factions fighting for South-East Nigeria’s independence, proclaimed war on the Nigerian government after the region’s independence date was announced for October 30, 2021.
Armed men identified as representatives of the Biafran National Guard were shown on recordings obtained by specific Reporters indicating that they were ready to go to war.
