Gunmen attack FC Robo Queens on way to honour match in Ogun State

Nigeria Women’s Football League, NWFL, side FC Robo Queens were attacked by gunmen along Ijebu-Ode road in Ogun State South-West Nigeria on Tuesday night making it the second football team in the country to be attacked while travelling to honour matches within five days.

Players and officials of the Lagos-based club were on their way to Agbor, Delta State, South-South Nigeria for their matchday seven fixture against Delta Queens today.

Valuables belonging to the players and officials including playing kits, mobile phones, and money were taken away. Despite the incident, the team continued their journey to Asaba, Delta State capital, this morning, and will honour their match against Delta Queens.

On Saturday, the Nigerian professional football league outfit, Adamawa United were robbed and their driver kidnapped along Benin-Ore road.

It’s matchday 7 in the 2021 NWFL, Edo Queens host confluence queens, Bayelsa Queens are guests of Abi Angels, Nasarawa Amazons visit Akwa Ibom for a date with Ibom Angels, Osun Babes host Sunshine Queens.

Elsewhere, Royal Queens dare Dream Star ladies while Pelican Stars are at home against Rivers Angels.
