Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Sanwo-Olu has signed the Open Grazing and Trespass of Cattle on Land Bill into law.
The Bill prohibits unapproved occupying of public or private properties by livestock. It also prohibits the movement of cattle in public spaces.
A consensus was reached at the Southern Governor’s forum in light of the increased farmer/herder crisis that has spiraled from the northern to southern states across the country.
The Bill also passed unanimously by the State House Assembly before reaching the Executive Arm.
Following the signing, herders found culpable will be brought to face the law by security agents within the state.
