The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, on Friday swiftly countered the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, PPPRA, on a fuel price hike.

The NNPC on its official Twitter page insisted that there is no increase in the depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol).

According to the post: “NNPC insisted no increase in ex-depot price of PMS in March.”

The fuel pricing regulator, the PPPRA had in a template released on its website on Thursday night initiated an upward review of petrol price to oscillate between N209 to N212 per litre for the month of March.

This is against the N186 the crucial commodity retailed for in February.

The PPPRA said the landing cost of petrol in March would be N189.61 per litre as against N163.74 in February.

The NNPC dismissed the claim, insisting that there was no depot price increase.

In the midst of the confusion, the PPPRA on Friday pulled down the template it had earlier hosted on its website showing the increase.

It has offered no reason for its action.
