Legendary Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has officially put forward his candidacy to become the next Ivory Coast Football Federation (FIF) president.
Drogba attracted thousands of supporters outside the offices of the federation where he went on Sunday to give in on his documents. The elections are scheduled to take place next month.
He is one of four candidates who are seeking the position. Before the final candidates are announced they’ll all go through a nominating process. While delivering a pre manifesto, the former Marseille and Galatasaray striker made it known that football is a global game which unites people.
The national team of the Ivory Coast has struggled for results since they won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2015. With the wealth of experience at his disposal, Drogba will be able to revive the structure of Ivorian football.
