The Federal Government has given governing councils of universities stern warnings against unnecessary interference with the schedule of Vice-Chancellors in the line of duty.

Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, who gave the warning in Abuja at the inauguration of the governing councils of 19 federal universities, vowed that the Ministry will not interfere with the selection process of a new vice-chancellor.

On the Covid-19 scare in the University of Lagos, a member of the Federal University of Technology, Godknows Igali, said it is an unfortunate development, but called for concerted effort to stem the spread of any third wave of the virus.

The governing councils of four inter-universities centres were also inaugurated. These are the Nigeria French Language Village, the Nigeria Arabic Language Village, National Mathematic Centre and Nigerian Institute for Indigenous Language.
