FG flag off the nationwide distribution of farm inputs in Kebbi State

More than 382, 000 farmers affected by the flood last year nationwide, are to be provided with free farm inputs by the Federal Government.

Kebbi State Governor and Vice Chairman National Food Security Council, Atiku Bagudu, disclosed this in Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi State capital, during the nationwide flag-off of the distribution of free farm inputs to farmers

Governor Bagudu explained that items to be given to each farmer include, assorted seeds, pumping machines, agrochemicals, and sprayers, among others.

The Vice-Chairman further said that those engaged in livestock production will also benefit from similar gestures, through the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA.

He noted that already, the NEMA has assisted other collaborating partners, by registering all intending beneficiaries.

Governor Bagudu reiterated the commitment of the National Food Security Council, to continue to support farmers with farm inputs, as well as agro-allied, and food processing industries.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Faruk, described the intervention as a landmark achievement by Federal Government by supporting farmers, affected by the twenty-twenty flood disaster.

The Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Mustapha Habib, commended the Kebbi State Governor for giving agriculture the desired attention as part of efforts of attaining food sufficiency, in Nigeria.

He appreciated the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari to supporting small-scale farmers across the country.

Farida Shehu, one of the beneficiaries, thanked the Federal Government, for the timely intervention. She assured the Federal Government that they will use the inputs judiciously.
