After deliberations today, Facebook’s Oversight Board have upheld the ban on former US President’s account on its platform. Donald Trump was banned from multiple social media platforms.
Donald Trump was banned from the platform on the 7th of January this year, after his statements on various platforms stirred up the US Capitol Attacks that coast at least 6 lives.
The company board, however, established that while it was inappropriate to impose an indefinite ban on the account with no respite of a restoration, they agreed to review the penalties and rules based on the severity of the violation of Trump’s account and other such future accounts.
In a never before seen move, Twitter suspended the US President from its platform at the time setting a huge precedent for other social media platforms which followed suit. No platform has restored the former President since the ban.
