The Speaker, Enugu State House of Assembly, Edward Ubosi, says Executive Order number 10 signed by President Muhammadu Buhari has helped to fast track the current process of achieving legislative autonomy in Nigeria.
Ubosi said this in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, on the sidelines of the capacity building workshop for members of the Enugu State House of Assembly by the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, NILDS.
As the clamour for legislative autonomy intensifies, Ubosi believes the move by the presidency to guarantee the autonomy of the legislature is a welcome development.
Director-General of the NILDS, Prof. Abubakar Sulaiman, stated that the training, held in partnership with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, would deepen their knowledge of issues pertaining to presentation and defence in the budget process.
Leader of the House, Ezeugwu Ikechukwu, pointed out the benefits of the training.
Delta and Cross River State Houses of Assembly also participated in the training.
