In Lagos, the police unleashed tear gas on hundreds of #EndSARS protesters who had gathered early at the Lekki Toll Gate, the epicentre of the protest in 2020.

The protesters mostly youths took over the city gate and occupied other adjoining streets chanting solidarity songs with anti-SARS inscriptions boldly on their placards in total defiance of the heavy presence of security operatives.

Some of Nigeria’s Nollywood celebrities like Mr Macaroni and Shaggi joined in the protest.

A few protesters have been arrested.

This was as another crowd of #EndSARS protesters held rallies for several hours at the Unity Fountain in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital with many calling for a total reform of the Nigerian police.

A sizeable number of youths in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, marched on major streets.

In Benin, the capital of Edo State, angry #EndSARS protesters forced their way into the Oba Ovonnranmen Square.

In Adamawa, in Nigeria’s Northeast, a group of #EndSARS protesters held peaceful demonstrations in the state capital, Yola, calling for an end to police brutality and bad leadership in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, in Enugu, Warri, Delta State and Aba in Abia State, security forces effectively stalled planned rallies by taking over the venues.
