According to the disease center, the number of confirmed cases in Nigeria has risen to 212,894.
Nigeria’s total death toll from the coronavirus infection increased to 2,922 on Wednesday, up from 2,914 on Tuesday.
Edo State has had a surge of 16 pandemic-related deaths in the last two days.
On Wednesday night, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) verified the news on its Facebook page, revealing that not less than 65 more cases had been reported across eight states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to the disease center, the number of confirmed cases in Nigeria has risen to 212,894.
The disease center reiterated, as it did on Tuesday, that Edo State had a backlog of eight fatalities. It did not, however, state how long the backlog would last.
However, the NCDC claimed in its examination of the report on Tuesday that the state’s eight fatalities were a backlog for November 8.
According to the disease centre, the FCT reported 328 discharged cases on November 8, including community discharges. The data brought the country’s total number of discharged cases to 204,675.
Plateau State in north-central Nigeria topped the list with 22 cases, followed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with 21 cases.
Ten of the 21 cases reported by the FCT have been put on hold until November 8, according to the NCDC.
Meanwhile, 12 instances were reported on Wednesday in Rivers State in the south-south, and four in Bauchi State in the north-east.
Lagos State, which is considered the epicentre of the pandemic in the country, has consistently had a low number of new cases.
Only two instances were reported in the state on Wednesday, while Kaduna, Edo, Jigawa, and Bayelsa each reported a single case.
On Wednesday, the NCDC said that no cases had been detected in Delta or Sokoto states.2 files
