Edo State government has commenced the enforcement of restrictions to public places by those who are yet to receive the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The enforcement exercise which started this Wednesday in Benin City at the various state government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, MDAs, left some workers stranded as they failed to show evidence of vaccination.

Those who could present evidence of being vaccinated had their cards verified by unarmed security personnel.

The COVID-19 enforcement team was also at the State Secretariat which is home to several MDAs.

Head of Communication of the State COVID-19 Response Team, Crusoe Osagie, and Head of the Enforcement Team, Haruna Yusuf, said the exercise is for the overall benefit of residents.

A vaccination point was, thereafter, set up close to the entrance of the Government House for those who saw the need to take the vaccines.
