The Cross River State Government says all stakeholders will be engaged in addressing the increase in hepatitis-related death cases in the Akampa Local Government Area of the state.

To this end, religious and traditional leaders, as well as markets and drivers unions, have been involved to achieve desired results.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Betta Edu, and the Director-General of Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Janet Ekpenyong, made this known during an advocacy and vaccination exercise in Awi, Akampa Local Government Area of Cross River State.

Edu said policymakers, communities, and other stakeholders have been engaged to discuss the way forward in accelerating hepatitis response awareness and to achieve elimination by 2030.

The essence of the advocacy and vaccination, according to the government, was to raise awareness on viral hepatitis and the need to reduce it as a public health threat in the state.
