Cross River Govt Gives 14 Days Ultimatum To Baby Factories To Acquire License

In a bid to reduce the menace of child trafficking, unnecessary loss of lives of children, and increase in street Children, the Cross River State Government has called on illegal maternity and orphanage homes to register to face the law.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Betta Edu, made the call in a statement issued in Calabar calling on all Maternity Homes and Orphanages to acquire an operational License within the next 14 days.

Dr. Edu who frowned at the act of some of these illegal medical homes said there is a need for proper supervision and monitoring of their operations

She Condemned the way some of the illegal medical homes have turned their ventures into a revenue-generating business stating that such practices won’t be tolerated in the state henceforth.

“The administration of Prof. Ben Ayade has vowed to combat and put to an end to certain ill practices that are detrimental to the healthy and peaceful living of every citizen of Cross River State,” she added.
