Imo State has recorded three new deaths arising from Covid-19 complications.

Commissioner for Health, Bartholomew Okorochukwu, disclosed this to reporters in Owerri, the state capital, and expressed concern over what he called the upsurge in the spread of the disease.

Okorochukwu urged residents to continue taking necessary precautions aimed at averting the third wave of the pandemic.

The Commissioner debunked reports making the rounds that 37 people had died within a space of one week at Mbieri Mbaitolu area of Imo State due to an unknown sickness.

He emphasized the need for vaccination, warning residents to maintain social distancing.

It is expected that the government would step up action against the looming third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
