An FCT high court has affirmed John Enoh as the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate in the March 2 governorship election in Cross River State.

In the suit filed by Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Usani Uguru Usani, against the APC, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and Senator Enoh, the court held that Uguru’s case lacks merit.

Justice Olukayode Adeniyi dismissed the suit for lack of jurisdiction and said there was a contradiction in the case projected by Usani and INEC report he produced in evidence particularly with regard to timing of the primary election.

The INEC report is to the effect that it ended the election on October 1, 2018, while Uguru claimed it ended on September 30.

Usani claimed that he contested the APC primary election along with other aspirants on September 30, 2018, and emerged as the winner but the party forwarded Enoh’s name to INEC as its candidate.

He, therefore, wanted the court to declare him the winner of the election and also to restrain APC from forwarding any other name to INEC as its governorship candidate for Cross River State.
