The Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union, COEASU, has threatened to embark on industrial action in all the three Kwara State-owned colleges of education if the State Government fails to fund and address the four-point demands recently made by the union.

National Vice President Southwest Zone, Olusegun Lana, disclosed this in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, during a press conference where he lamented the sorry state of infrastructure at the state-owned, teacher training institutes in Ilorin, Oro, and Lafiagi all in Kwara State.

Expressing their frustrations, some lecturers who also seat as chairmen in the various Colleges of Education Academic Staff Unions in the state, said they will not allow either state or the Federal Government to destroy teacher’s training centres in the country through bad policies and neglect.

The Union said that proper investment in teacher education in Nigeria is strategic in resolving the present security and economic challenges confronting the nation.
