México got back-to-back wins in the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 2002, after edging out South Korea 2-1 in a Group F fixture at the Rostov Arena. Javier Hernandez, better known as Chicharito, scored his 50th goal for Mexico, and he also becomes the third Mexican to score in three world cups. The defeat effectively dumps South Korea out of the World Cup 2018.

But it is not yet automatic qualification to the Round of 16 for the Mexicans. The North Americans will advance if they defeat or pull a draw with Sweden in their last Group F game, as three teams in the group still have a chance of making it to the last 16.

Germany had to come from the dead to earn all three points against Sweden in the dying moments of the game. The defending champions now have three points and will need to defeat South Korea to make it to the next round of the competition.
