Oyo State High Court has awarded 20 billion Naira as compensation to Yoruba Nation separatist, Sunday Igboho, over the deadly invasion of his Ibadan residence by operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS on July 1, 2021.

Justice Ladiran Akintola in his judgment said if the identities of the individual operatives were determined, they would have been liable to pay the damages and not the Nigerian government.

Ighoho escaped from his Ibadan house to the Benin Republic during the invasion and attempted to fly to Germany with his wife before he was arrested by authorities in Cotonou.

The DSS confirmed that two people were killed as gunmen resisted their invasion of Igboho’s house on July 1, while 13 persons were arrested and five AK-47 assault rifles were recovered by operatives.
