The Badminton World Federation has postponed the Thomas and Uber Cup Finals 2020 in Aarhus, Denmark after, Australia, Taiwan, Thailand, South Korea, and Indonesia withdrew on Monday as a result of the global pandemic.
The tournaments which were scheduled for October in Denmark, have now been postponed indefinitely. A statement said after discussing with stakeholders, and other participating Member Associations, the federation will not stage the TOTAL BWF Thomas and Uber Cup Finals in October 2020.
The statement further said the badminton federation is looking into alternative dates to reschedule the Championships. While speaking on the safety measures, the BWF said it had been implementing a bubble system for a safe return to international badminton for everyone involved.
It said it respected the choices of participants not wanting to take part in the event in these difficult times. The BWF also announced that the 2020 Denmark Open in Odense, will go ahead as planned next month, as it will see an opportunity to implement relevant coronavirus Protocols.
The federation also confirmed the cancellation of the Denmark Masters, from October 20 to 25
