Badminton’s distinguished Asian open in china and japan scheduled for September was on Wednesday cancelled by the Badminton world federation BWF as a result of Covid-19.

The Taipei Open, the China Open, the Korea Open, and the Japan Open have all been cancelled. The BWF Secretary General Thomas Lund said the federation is disappointed to cancel the tournaments.

He further stated that the wellbeing of everyone involved is most important at this time. The global pandemic has affected sports events around the world, from The 2020 Tokyo Olympics been postponed to 2021, to the cancellation of Wimbledon.

The Men’s ATP Tour and Women’s WTA Tour announced all tennis tournaments in China for the rest of the year had been cancelled last week, including the WTA Finals in Shenzhen and Shanghai Masters.
