Armed forces will resist any attempt to launch violent attack against Imo State – Defense chief

Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff, General Lucky Irabor, says the armed forces and other security agencies will resist any attempt by any group to launch a violent attack against Imo State under the guise of agitation.

General Irabor handed down the warning at Owerri, Imo State capital, during stakeholders meeting with retired Senior Military Officers in the southeast geopolitical zone of the country.

The need to curb rising insecurity and restore normalcy across the country was informed the parley by the military veterans and the Chief of Defense Staff.

General Irabor explained that security agencies were not against any agitation, but stated that such movement must be carried out within the confines of the law.

He noted that the recent killing of security agents in Enugu State was a wake-up call for security agencies to rise to the occasion and safeguard the country.

For the participants, such an interactive session will achieve greater results.

The meeting which was organized to tap from the wealth of experience of retired officers in combating crime was attended by many, including the former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Azubuike Ihejirika.
