Residents of Anambra State have called on both the Federal and State Governments to overhaul the security architecture in the five states that make up the South-East region of Nigeria.

Some people who spoke to reporters in Awka, the state capital, said the continued lockdown following the imposed sit-at-home order by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on every Monday, is adversely affecting their businesses and families.

They want an urgent intervention from all quarters to boost the confidence of people so that normalcy and commercial activities will fully return in the region.

The people are lamenting the negative impact of the civil disobedience action on the economy of the South-East region, hinting that they are losing incomes as well as customers any day a sit-at-home is observed.

While a few summoned the courage to open their business premises this Monday in Awka, several others remained shut including government offices, banks, petrol stations and markets.

Although the South-East Governors and the leadership of the outlawed separatist groups, IPOB, had severally called on the people to go about their lawful businesses, it seems a lot more needs to be done to fully restore normalcy and commercial activities to the region whose economy wholly thrives on commerce.
