Manchester City has signed England 27-year-old defender Alex Greenwood from Champions League winners Olympique Lyonnais, on a three-year deal.

The announcement was made by the WSL Women’s Super League club on Wednesday.

She had also featured for Everton and Liverpool between the 2016 and 2018 WSL season, before captaining Manchester United to their FA Women’s Championship crown in 2019, in their first season back since 2005 before joining Lyon.

She joins her Lionesses team-mate and defender Lucy Bronze, who was also part of the Lyonnais team that lifted the Champions League trophy in August.

Greenwood becomes the fifth signing, following the arrivals of United states midfielders Rose Lavelle and Sam Mewis, Lucy Bronze from Lyon, and England forward Chloe Kelly from Everton
