As Afghanistan’s Taliban mark one year in power, burqa sales are on the rise, according to local merchandisers.

Restrictions on the female dress codes in the country were reinforced in May when the Taliban government ordered women to cover their faces in public. Women now have the option of either wearing the burqa or the hijab.
The blue burqas, a fabric that covers a woman’s whole body with the exception of a mesh frame over the eyes, can be seen decorating the exterior of market stalls in Kabul.
