An early Monday morning downpour that lasted about three hours has left some major streets in Katsina metropolis submerged in flood leaving motorists to play one way.

The area most affected is the popular Kofar Kaura roundabout and layout as well as that of Tudun Katsira layout road liking the new Central Bank of Nigeria road.

It was observed that as a result of the downpour, the roads were filled with water making navigation difficult safe for a one-way drive.

It was gathered that around the Tudun Katsira layout, buildings were submerged as the road lacks a drainage system.

It was also gathered that where there are drainages, they are not properly cleared to enable the free flow of water during rains.

A similar incident also occurred around the same location in 2020 where some poultry farmers lost millions of naira worth of investment including about 3,500 birds and livestock, perimeter fencing of builds collapsed as well as houses being flooded.

The residents in the areas had appealed to the state government to come to their aid but a year on, no help has reached them as a repeat of such scenario has occurred.

It is the hope of the people that as a result of this particular situation, the government will swing into action immediately to avert future recurrence.
