The President Muhammadu Buhari administration is committed to completing abandoned projects in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria.

Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, stated this in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, during an inspection of a hostel block project at the main campus of the University of Uyo.

The long-abandoned 1000 bed hostel project at the main campus of the University of Uyo was awarded by the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

The project was awarded 15 years ago and just like many other projects in the Niger Delta region, it is yet to be completed.

But the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs said this and other uncompleted projects in the region will be completed. Senator Akpabio assured that the NDDC will support education in the region.

Interim Administrator of the NDDC, Effiong Akwa, expressed appreciation for President Buhari’s commitment to the development of the region.

The hostel block has 500-bed spaces for female students and 500 for males.
