300,000 people have fled their homes in the Ituri Province of DR Congo due to the rise in communal violence in the northeastern part of the country.
The Hema and Lendu groups have been at loggerheads over the use of land as far back as 1999. The UNCHR has disclosed that it has been difficult to reach the victims in most of the affected areas.

DR Congo has been suffering from ethnic violence and there is currently an epidemic of the Ebola Virus, last month the International Red Cross and Red Crescent societies reported the number of affected individuals at 1000.
The displacement of individuals now living in unsanitary conditions may adversely affect the efforts to contain the deadly virus.
