Twenty-eight of the 121 students of Bethel Baptist High School, Maraban Rido, Kaduna, have been reunited with their families after they escaped from the bandits.

The President of Kaduna State Baptist Conference, Ishaya Jangado, who accompanied the students to school, said everything possible will be done to rescue the remaining students.

Bethel Baptist High School is six kilometers away from Kaduna.

On Monday, bandits attacked the school at about 1 am and abducted 121 students, who only returned to the school last week, to write their exams.

The expression on the faces of parents whose children were taken away was moody. Not able to contain their emotions, the women began to cut leaves and occupied the highway.

But the situation almost got messier as a military officer shot into the air to disperse the women on the road. This got the parents angry.

Just when the women began to sing praises, some buses drove into the school with the 28 students who escaped from the kidnappers.

It was mixed feelings as the escapees were reunited with their parents.

Efforts to get the government’s reaction was not successful.

For now, 93 students are still in captivity. The women have vowed to occupy the road until the government takes action.
